Mystery tour #2

さて、シークレットツアーを企画する番が回って来ました。

先週末はK2と私で、KTを恒例のバースデーシークレットツアーにご招待。
が、残念なことに、K2が風邪でダウン。
せっかく色々なアイディアを出してくれたのに、夕飯だけの参加に。可哀想なK2・・・。

バースデーガールKTと私は、自由が丘で待ち合わせ。
先ずは電車で元町中華街まで行き、1927年創業、横浜のランドマーク、
ニューグランドホテル内のカフェでランチ。

私は、初代フランス人料理長、サリー・ウェイルが開発したという、シーフードドリアをオーダー。
８５年前の日本人の舌に、この濃厚なベジャメルソースがどんな風を運んだのか、想像を巡らせながらの楽しいランチ。

お次は、目の前の横浜港からシーバスに乗って、みなとみらいへ移動。
カップヌードルミュージアムへ。

佐藤可士和氏プロデュースの、食品メーカーのそれとしては一風変わったこのミュージアムでは、
インスタントラーメン開発の歴史を知ることが出来、
自分でオリジナルのカップヌードルを作るワークショップなどにも参加出来る。
カップに自分でペイントをし、スープの味や具を自分で選べるというんで、
私は「GET WELL SOON（お大事に）」カップを作り、
スペシャルトッピングのカップヌードルを作って、K2へのお土産としてみた！（参加したからには楽しまないとね）

５時過ぎには暗くなり始めたみなとみらいを歩きながら、急降下するジェットコースターを
同じタイミングで絶叫しながら眺めてみた後（見てるだけでも楽しめる、ジェットコースター好き）は、再び電車で白金高輪へ。
シチリア料理のレストランで、ここからK２も合流してディナータイム。

とにかくどの料理もワインもとても美味しかったけど、一番印象に残ったのが、
鯖の燻製に、枝豆、胡瓜、キィウィとミントを和えたソースを乗せたもの。
こういう、自分では思いつかないようなメニューに出会えるのが、外食の醍醐味。
またレシピが一つ増えましたな。

帰り道、KT行き付けのワインバーに寄り道して、もう２杯、いや、３杯？呑んで、ツアー終了。

ふぅ、またまた楽しい一日でした。

もちろんこれは、KTのためのバースデーツアーなのだけれども、
すっかり私も楽しんでしまったんでした。
KTも楽しんでくれたかな。


It's our turn to create a mystery tour!

K2 and I took KT on her birthday mystery tour last weekend.
Unfortunately, K2 who gave me a lot of ideas for this tour had a cold.
So she joined us only for dinner.... Poor K2!

Birthday girl KT and I met in Jiyugaoka, and then took a train to Motomachi Cyukagai in Yokohama. There, we had lunch at a cafe in a Hotel New Grand（established in 1927).

I tried a seafood doria (baked rice and seafood covered with bechamel sauce). 
It's developed by their first French executive chef Saly Weil, and they still use his recipe after 85 years.I wonder how did Japanese people of those days like this creamy dish? 

Next, we took a sea bus to Minato Mirai and visited a CUP NOODLES MUSEUM which is produced by creative director Kashiwa Sato.
In this fun museum, you can learn the history of instant noodles and create your own cup noodles.
I designed "GET WELL SOON" cup noodle for K2! 


After walking around the Minato Mirai and screamed while watching roller coaster running into a water hole (I can enjoy roller coaster without riding!), we headed to Shirogane Takanawa in Tokyo and had dinner at Sicilian Italian restaurant with K2.

We enjoyed all the dishes especially smoked mackerel with green soybeans, cucumber, kiwi fruit and mint sauce.

Then....we dropped by KT's favorite wine bar on our way home.

Whew. It was a lovely day again. 
I know it was a tour for KT but I enjoyed it a lot! Hope KT enjoyed it too!
