The Typhoon night

昨夜、台風４号が東京を襲う。

The typhoon No. 4 hit Tokyo last night.

Hot and humid weekend

暑くて湿気の多い週末でした。

でもそのおかげで、自家製ルバーブシロップのソーダ割りを美味しく飲めたけれど。

今日は、綺麗な黄色い梅を見つけたので、梅干作りをスタート。
これは毎年この梅雨の時期の私の恒例行事。

まずは綺麗に梅を洗い、残っているヘタを丁寧に取り除き、
お塩と一緒にジャーへ入れたら、土用干しまでそのまま漬け込みます。
自家製梅干は、市販のものより数倍美味しいので、手間をかける甲斐あり！

It was very hot and humid weekend! But thanks to the weather, I enjoyed the homemade rhubarb soda.

I found some beautiful yellow plums, so I made Umeboshi, (pickled plums) yesterday.
It has been my annual event in rainy season.
I deeply washed the plums and carefully removed remaining stems. Then I put them in a jar with salt and leave them until it's time to dry under the sun.

Homemade umeboshi is much more delicious than the one bought in store, so it's worth the effort!

Carrot Soup

鍋にオリーブオイルを敷き、乱切りしたニンジンと、タマネギを炒める。
湯を鍋に注ぎ、煮立ったら火を弱め、30分ほど具がやわらかくなるまで煮る。
ブレンダーに入れてピューレ状にしたら再び鍋に戻し、更に10分ほど煮る。
塩と、搾りたてのフレッシュオレンジ果汁で味を調えたら出来上がり。

召し上がれ。

In a medium-sized pot, saute diced carrots and chopped onion with olive oil.
Pour in hot water, bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until carrots are soft. In a blender, puree the soup, return to pot and simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Season with salt and fresh orange juice.

Bottarga

Rainy season

昨日、関東地方がついに梅雨入り。

私はまんまと風邪をひき、ほぼ一日中、雨音を聴きながら寝て過ごす。

The start of the rainy season was announced for the Kanto region yesterday.

I caught a cold and was in bed almost all day yesterday, listening to the sound of the falling rain.

Blue

 

子供の頃から、好きな色はずっと青。
理由は何故だかわからないけれど。


想像に難くなく、私のクローゼットは青い服でいっぱい。
もちろん、緑のシャツや、紫のストール、赤いコートだって着るけれど、
そういう色でも、青に合うかどうかで結局は選んでる。


青は、空の色で、青は、海の色。
青は、私の愛してやまない色。


落ち込んだ気分を「ブルー」で言い表すの、やめてくれないかなぁ。


私にとっては、青は最高に幸せな色。


Ever since I was a little girl, my favorite colour is blue.
I don't know the reason why I like blue. 

As you can imagine, my closet is surrounded with so many blue clothes.

Of course, I do wear clothes in other colors such as green shirt, purple scarf or red coat.

I choose these colors if it matches with blue or nor in the end. 

Blue is the colour of sky.

Blue is the colour of the ocean.

Blue is the colour I love.

I wish people would stop using the word "blue" to describe  depressed feelings.

To me, blue is the happiest colour.

Whew!

ふぅ。なんと忙しい数週間だったこと！

さすがに疲れました。

そんな訳で、週末は遠出をせず近所で過ごし、ゆっくりと料理を楽しんで終了。

これでまた忙しい一週間を始められる。かな？

Whew! It's been such busy couple of weeks. 

I was exhausted.

So, this weekend, I spend most of my time in my neighborhood, and enjoyed cooking at home.


I think I'm ready to start onother busy week.
