Boleslawiec, Poland

Left France for Poland.

Our first destination was Boleslawiec, which is famous for its ceramic industries.

It reminded me of Hasami in Kyusyu, Japan, also known for its ceramics.

The unknown songs of birds, unfamiliar sounds of the Polish language, kind people, clean town and delicious Polish food.

I was already fond of this country on my very first day in Poland.

Night Owls in Paris

19:50 p.m. rue de Buci, Pars.

21:29 p.m. Odeon, Pars.

22:15 p.m. rue de Seine, Pars.

Bonne nuit, Paris.

Paris is my very first overseas experience in my life.

I still remember the colour of the street lights I looked up while I was coming up to the ground from the stairs of the metro station at night. It looked so different from the ones I saw in Japan and I thought it was beautiful.

20 years have passed.

Paris doesn't excite me anymore as 20 years ago after 14 times of my visit, but I still like Paris at night.

Autumn rain

It's been raining on and off all day today.

Okinawan cooking

I remembered that I had some dried flat noodle my friend gave me as a souvenir from Okinawa a couple of month ago. So I decided to cook "SOKI SOBA" (Pork rib noodles).

I had never cooked "SOKI SOBA"  before so I wasn't sure if I cooked it right, but it looked and tasted alright.

The small cup I used for drinking SAKE tonight was also from Okinawa.

SENTO shelf

I still remember how excited we were when S and I found this old but relished wooden shelf in a vintage furniture shop about 10 years ago.

This shelf used to be in a Japanese style public bath house and were used as a locker. So it has bars attached to the inside of the doors to hang towels!

Now we use this shelf as a book shelf and a cupboard. Although this is not really convenient to use, we still love this big old shelf which is now in our living room.

Letter with smile from Okinawa

I received a letter and a magazine from my friend M in Okinawa.
She moved from Tokyo to Okinawa with her husband and her daughter, about a year ago.

Wherever she goes, wherever she lives, she is always surrounded by lovely people and smiles.

She is on this magazine with a big smile and that made me smile.

Fireworks display

S and I visited our friend's house in our neighborhood to see "Tama river fireworks display" last night.  Her apartment is only a five-minute walk from our home, but it's got a big balcony and a great view!

Lots of people, lots of alcohol, nice music and amazing fireworks display....

Whew. I drunk a lot.  (again!)
