Potluck party

昨夜は、お料理上手さん達（そして美味しいものが大好きな面々）が我家に集合して
持ち寄り宴会を開催。
一人１～２品ずつを持ち寄って、我家で好みの器に盛ってもらい、
圧巻のテーブルを眺めながら乾杯！
宴開始とともに、皆であれこれ互いに楽しい質疑応答タイムスタート。


「この味付け何？」 「お味噌の他に少しお砂糖も入ってる。」
「下茹でしたの？」 「炒めたの。」
「これスーパーで売ってる？」 「最近売ってるのよ。」
「切り方が違う。」 「こっちの方が味がしみやすいよ。」
「素敵な器。」　「これは土岐の作家さんのだよ。」


食べ物と器のことになると、話が止まらない。
新しいレシピも仕入れられて嬉しい。

どれも美味しいし、何より、色々な人の手料理を一度に何種類も
口にすることが出来るなんて、とても贅沢。
デザートまで手作り、そしてコーヒーの焙煎までお友達特製の、
盛り沢山フルコースとなりました。

ふう、美味しくて食べ過ぎた。

My food-lover friends came over to our house and had a potluck party last night.They brought a couple of dishes each and I also cooked some dishes so when we put all of them on the table,  it was quite a view!

 After we toasted and started the party, the question-and-answer time began! 

"How did you season it?"　"Miso and some sugar."

"Did you boil them first?"　"Stir fried."

"Can you get this at a supermarket?"　"You can nowadays."

"Unique way of cutting vegetables."　"They absorb dressing better this way."

"Beautiful plate." "It's made by a pottery artist in Toki"


We just couldn't stop talking about food and pottery.


Even the dessert (banana tart) was homemade and coffee was roasted by a friend. Whew, every dish was so delicious and I ate a little too much....

Upside down world

駅に向かう時に歩く、小川沿いの道。
ふと川を覗き込むと、西日に照らされた木々が綺麗に映り込んでいる。

カメラのファインダーから覗いていたら、
天地が逆転したような浮遊感が身体に満ちて、
不思議な気持ち。

On the way to the station along the small streams.
I looked down and found beautiful reflected trees.

After looking at them through the camera lens, I felt like I was in a world upside down and my body was floating.

Autumn dusk walk

バス停から我家までのほんの短い回り道。
秋の夕暮れの光で見る植物は、本当に美しい。

It was only a short walk between the bus stop and my home.
Everything looked so beautiful in the light of the autumn dusk.

Ink stand

蔵前にあるインクスタンドで自分で調合した色のインクを購入出来ると聞き、早速。

もちろん作るのは大好きなブルー系のインク。
なんとなく頭の中でイメージを決めて、
更に普段使っている市販のPＩLOTとLAMY のインクを紙に塗って持参。
せっかくだからこれらと違う色にしたいからね。


先ずはカラーチャートで、だいたいの自分のゴールを決める。

次に、目の前に並んだインクボトルの中から、
2～3種類選び、スポイトで一滴ずつ容器に垂らし混ぜ、好みの色に近づけていく。
と言うと簡単そうだけど、これがなかなか難しい。

Sonic Blue、Gray Flannel、を一滴ずつ混ぜて良い色になったけれど、
もう少し暗めにしたくて、Velvet Blackを一滴混ぜたら、
あっという間に黒寄りに持っていかれてしまって、
市販のブルーブラックインクに近い色になってしまった。

この後、Sonic Blue、Gray Flannelの敵数を増やしていって良い色にはなったけど、
頭でイメージしていた仕上がりでは無かったので仕切り直し。

Sonic Blue、Gray Flannelの二色はそのままに、今度はPurple Hazeを加えてみた。
黒ほど影響力が無く、良い感じに濃さが出た。
でも紫の鮮やかさが強かったので、イメージに近づけるために、
Gray Flannelをもう一滴増やしてみた。

うん、これだな。完成。

配合を店員さんに伝えると、同じ割合で調合し、33mlボトルに詰めてくれる。


翌日早速、愛用の万年筆にインクを入れてみた。
紙にインクを落としてしばらくすると、水分が蒸発し、
洗いざらしのインディゴ染め綿布みたいな好みの色になった。嬉しい。


I went to the Ink Stand in Kuramae.
At this stand, you can make your own mixed colour ink for a fountain pen.
I tried and made some blue (of course) ink different from the ones I usually use. 

Once you decide your target colour, you can start mixing ink.
The method is very simple. Choose two or three different colour inks and mix them, that's all.

First, I chose Sonic Blue and Gray Flannel and mixed one drop of each.
OK, it was not bad but my target colour in my head was a little bit darker so I added one drop of Velvet Black.... It went too dark and looked like the same as PILOT blue. I added another drop of gray and blue but couldn't make my image colour with these three colours in the end.

Hmmm, making the colour you aim for is quite difficult.

I tried it again with different colours which were Sonic Blue, Gray Flannel and Purple Haze. It turned out well but it was slightly brighter than my image colour so I added one more drop of Gray Flannel to it. Yes! That was the colour I was aiming for.

You hand your recipe to shop staff then they make 33ml of your colour ink and bottle it.

I tried my original ink the next day with my favorite fountain pen. The ink on the paper, after it dried, looked like a worn-out indigo cotton fabric and I loved it.
